Private Paul JAS Center Founder’s Party feat Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue
Born Troy Andrews, Trombone Shorty got his start early—playing Jazz Fest with Bo Diddley at four, leading his own brass band at six, and touring with Lenny Kravitz as a teenager. Since then, he’s become a world-renowned bandleader, multi-instrumentalist, and showman, known for his magnetic stage presence and genre-blurring style that fuses funk, soul, rock, and jazz.
Since 2010, Shorty has released five chart-topping albums (most recently Lifted in 2022 on Blue Note Records), performed with icons ranging from Pharrell and Bruno Mars to Foo Fighters and Ringo Starr, and appeared at nearly every major festival including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Newport Folk, and Newport Jazz. He has played the GRAMMY Awards, performed six times at the White House, earned a Caldecott Honor for his children’s book, and launched the Trombone Shorty Foundation to support youth music education.
A proud New Orleanian, Shorty now leads his own Mardi Gras parade, hosts the annual Treme Threauxdown featuring star guests like Usher and Leon Bridges, and closes the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival’s iconic final set. Beyond touring worldwide, he spearheads an annual cultural exchange in Cuba with his Foundation, bringing artists and nearly 100 students for workshops and performances. Recent highlights include a 2024 summer tour with Big Boi, a Hollywood Bowl stop, high-profile TV appearances, and performances at the White House’s Juneteenth celebration and NPR’s Tiny Desk with Juvenile.
