Jason Arkins

Jason Arkins is a 19 year old saxophonist from Carmel, NY. He first starting playing in the 5th grade and studied with NY saxophonist Ed Xiques until the later part of high school. As a junior, Jason began attending the Manhattan School of Music Precollege where he was introduced to some of the best players his age in the tri-state area all while getting incredible training from faculty of the college program. Some high school honors Jason received were traveling with the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra and NYO Jazz which took him to Japan, Canada, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong and performances at Carnegie Hall and the Monterey Jazz Festival. Jason began attending the Frost School of Music in the fall of 2019 where he studies with Gary Keller and Mark Small. During the first semester, he was named a National YoungArts Finalist in Baritone Saxophone which led to his participation in YoungArts week. Jason is really looking forward to playing with an incredible band in Aspen under the direction of the great Christian McBride.
