Jonathan Bumpus
Active as a trombonist, composer/arranger, and educator, Jonathan Bumpus holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz Trombone Performance from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington, and a Master of Music degree in Jazz and Contemporary Media from the Eastman School of Music. Jonathan has shared the stage with artists such as Chris Potter, Wycliffe Gordon, Pat Metheny, and Branford Marsalis, and has been a member of the Bob Curnow Big Band, the Spokane Jazz Orchestra, the Eastman Trombone Choir and the Eastman Jazz Ensemble. Jonathan’s research interests include improvisation, trombonists, and jazz pedagogy, and his work has been published in Jazz Education in Research and Practice. Jonathan currently lives and works in Ann Arbor, MI.
