Now entering its 15th year, the District Eight Honor Jazz Band, sponsored by Jazz Aspen Snowmass, will take place February 5-6 at Roaring Fork High School in Carbondale.  Over one hundred (100) teenage jazz musicians and vocalists will be in attendance, representing eighteen middle and high schools from throughout the District (Aspen, Basalt, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, Eagle, Summit County, Steamboat Springs, Granby, Rifle and Moffat County).  Over the two days they will participate in intensive jazz training, including instructional workshops and rehearsals, with a faculty of professional musicians provided by JAS.

On Saturday, February 6 at 5pm the public is invited to a FREE performance at Roaring Fork High School which will feature these outstanding students and the faculty performing live together for the first time.

“It’s amazing how these students from different schools come together and in less than 48 hours are able to hop on stage and perform as if they’ve been practicing with each other for months,” says Andrea Beard, Director of Marketing & PR for Jazz Aspen Snowmass. “We hope the community will come out and give them a big crowd to perform for!”
