Keep the Jazz Green
Jazz Aspen Snowmass is committed to building a sustainable future by working with our partners and patrons to work towards a minimal waste event.

Commitment to Reducing Waste Creation:
Our touchless water stations provide fresh, clean water and reduce the creation of the equivalent of more than 13,500 plastic bottles over the festival weekend.
All food at the festival is served on compostable or reusable plates and utensils and a full-scale compost disposal system is in place. We have eliminated plastic “stir sticks” from the main field bars, eliminating over 20,000 pieces of plastic from the landfill.

Commitment to Waste Diversion:
We currently recycle all plastics, glass, and cardboard created by our back-of-house and bars and compost food waste. In 2016, we implemented a patron diversion program, allowing our festival guests to participate in the effort by separating their waste into the proper recycle, compost, or trash bins. In 2023, we reached 81% diversion. Please do your part by putting your waste in the correct bin!

Commitment to resource efficiency:
Since 1991, JAS has worked to be a positive force in the community, presenting and preserving jazz and related forms of music through world-class events, performances, and education programs. In strengthening our sustainability commitment, we aim to be a positive force on the environmental front as well. We provide a robust transportation system and are proud that over 2/3 of our guests arrive at the festival by bus.

New in 2024, we are working with our power partner to implement a battery storage system, which will allow us to significantly reduce the time our generators spend running and our diesel consumption.
