Here are the next 4 (click on their names to read their full bios):
Hometown: Charlotte, NCSchool: Michigan State UniversityWhat made you want to pursue a career in music?
It was a desire of mine for as long as I can remember to travel the world and perform.
Hometown: Washington D.C.
School: Michigan State University
Where do you see yourself as an artist in 10 years?
In 10 years I see myself traveling the world with my talents, composing music, curating shows, and leading bands and performing as sideman to artists.
Hometown: Deerfield Beach, Florida
School: Michigan State University
What’s your favorite era of music and why?
The 1990s Young Lions era, because there was an energy and sense of urgency in the music that I love. I’ve heard several stories about the importance of mentorship during that time and some of my favorite musicians grew up during that era.
Hometown: Miami, Florida
School: Michigan State University
If you could play with any musician dead or alive who would it be and why?
Mulgrew Miller. He was on so many records of my favorite musicians like Woody Shaw, Kenny Garrett and Ron Carter. Though it was hard to choose, I chose a piano player because amazing accompanists like Mulgrew can both make my stuff sound the best it can as well as push me to hear and reach for new things, as the aforementioned musicians often do.
