JAS’ Local Education End of Summer/Fall Happenings!

Berklee College of Music/Berklee City Music and Jazz Aspen Snowmass (JAS) presents the “Musically Me” workshop

September 22nd, 2024 | 4:30pm to 7pm | Glenwood Springs High School

Hosted at Glenwood Springs High School, the Musically Me workshop is directed to Middle and High School students who are focused on pursuing a college education and careers in music and the music industry.

The Musically Me workshop, Berklee College of Music’s very first interactive hands-on approach to music education, the industry, and beyond, will be facilitated by Berklee staff including the Associate Dean for Education Outreach and the Assistant Dean of Admissions. The workshop will feature informational breakout sessions for students and parents/guardians that will help prepare families for college and what questions to ask while deciding for the future. There will be mock college auditions and interviews, as well as a group exercise and a performance opportunity to record musical pieces to include in their audition packages.

Jazz Aspen Snowmass in association with the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts presents “SheBop – Young Women in Jazz” workshop

October 25th & 26th, 2024 | Carbondale Middle School

A two day workshop including small group & big band playing, masterclasses, jam sessions & group activities, culminating in a live performance Saturday night. Open to all female instrumentalists/vocalists of any ability level ages 10-18. Intended to provide young female jazz musicians high quality educational experiences in an environment that gives them a sense of belonging and community, a safe place to explore their artistic selves, and extra support and enlarged context for the role of women in jazz.
