JAS NATIONAL COUNCIL TRIP TO LONDON!
written by Holly Upper, JAS Development Director
London, with such an international influence, was a great place for the 2016 JAS National Council trip, brining old friends getting together and while new friendships were made. We started off the trip with unexpectedly making new friends at the hotel piano bar with a few of the band members from Bruno Mars and the Hooligans. Jim and Phredley Brown, the pianist and Music Director for the Hooligans, played classics together to a small group of JAS friends and friendly bar patrons until the bar closed and they kicked us out. The following night we spent the evening with our friends from AEG at O2 Arena with an energetic concert from a hometown favorite, Bastille. The crowd was very excited to welcome their hometown band back to the stage with confetti flying and the lead singer going out into the crowd and connecting.
The following night started with a private dining experience at the exquisite Bocca di Lupo followed by a concert at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s, a treat for all music lovers to step foot into because of its roots in London’s jazz scene. Steve Cropper performed and kicked off with one of his classics “Knock on Wood”. He sure knew how to put on a show. The following night we ate at Yauatcha for shared plates of Chinese and then went back to Ronnie Scott’s for trumpeter, Randy Brecker & Balaio. The final night was a free night for everyone to explore the city. It was a smaller but special group of JAS friends to share London with.
Looking forward to our next adventure!
