Best Singer/Songwriters: Jacob Fowler & Hoyt Benson
Great Divide Studios in Aspen has donated recording time to The Brink while Jacob and Hoyt were rewarded a chance to perform a KSPN Kitchen Concert, date to be announced soon. Ten talented bands performed a mix of fun music from 70s rock to jazz to current pop music and more. JAS thanks everyone who came out on a rainy Saturday to support these young musicians.
Jazz Aspen Snowmass would also like to recognize the JAS 2015 Outstanding Student Awards. Each student, nominated by their Band Directors, will receive a gift certificate for music supplies from Glenwood Music.

Basalt Middle and High School Band Director Nick Lenio has been awarded the 2015 JAS Music Instructor Award. Nick has been at Basalt for three years now and in that time has made drastic improvements in the music departments. His dedication and hard work have paid off, with the Basalt band program now in excess of 100+ beginners yearly. Says JAS In-Schools Director Chris Bank, “Nick connects well with his students, they love him. He manages to give them a solid foundation and balances his music with fun tunes the kids relate to as well as challenging pieces that push them to grow. We hope he is here for many years to come.”
