Words… and Music… By Stevie Nicks
I began thinking about making this record in February of this year because I had about five months before Fleetwood Mac rehearsals started in August. We didn’t have a year to hang out and work on music like I usually do. I had about 40 songs originally done in demo form from 1969-1987 and ’94 and ’95. I thought we could certainly make an album from this collection –probably three albums. Many of the songs were already out there on the internet and fans have been asking for them for years through fan sites and letters. I used to make cassettes of my music and give them to anybody. But to know that these songs were finally going to be recorded with the same love they were originally done when they were demos –that was joyous for me. I narrowed it down to 30 and had to keep weeding out. I think Waddy hit it on the head when he said, “Stevie really writes one very long song. They’re all involved with each other. Each song is a lifetime… Each song has a soul… Each song has a purpose. Each song is a love story… They represent my life behind the scenes, the secrets, the broken hearts, the brokenhearted and the survivors… These songs are the memories –the 24 Karat gold rings in the blue box… These songs are for you.”
You usually don’t write songs about being super happy… When you write a song or a book, it’s usually when someone walks away. I think that’s the first moment you start to think about it not working out and you start to write. The relationship may go on for longer but you’ve already started writing in your head because you see the future… Other times, you know a relationship won’t work from almost the beginning but you wouldn’t trade what you shared for a million dollars…
It’s not acting…It’s never acting… It’s the reason I go onstage and sing Edge of 17 every night since ’81 or Gold Dust Woman. I just take myself back to that time when it was written… Sometimes I can’t remember what happened yesterday but I remember so well what happened through the whole period of time that I wrote these songs.
Regarding Fleetwood Mac, it’s going to be so great to look over to my right and see Christine behind the Hammond organ… I’ve missed her so much… I never thought she’d come back… She said she was never coming back… But she started seeing a therapist and one day she had an epiphany. I think he said, “What are you doing staying out in your castle, Guenivere… What are you doing out there? You need to come back and start living life… Go back to the band…” At that time, it was Mick, John, Lindsey and I touring… She called up and asked, “What would you think if I came back to the band?” And I said, “Chris, it is your band… Get a trainer…” So she got a trainer and she’s been working out for the last six months and she’s stronger than all of us. She’s going to leave us in the dust.

The three-time Country Music Association and six-time Academy of Country Music Award winner released his highly-anticipated album Desperate Man atop the Billboard Country Albums chart in late 2018, earning praise as one of the year’s top albums by American Songwriter, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, Variety, Stereogum, The Los Angeles Times, NPR, Rolling Stone, USA Today and Vulture, among others. The album, featuring his most recent No. 1 hit “Some Of It,” also debuted at No. 5 on the all-genre Billboard 200. Rolling Stone describes it as “classic Church: expertly crafted and country-radio-friendly, while also pushing boundaries in a way that sounds natural and unforced” and American Songwriter notes that it “sublimates the pain of a tumultuous year into his most adventuresome album yet.” Church also returned to the road this year for his critically-acclaimed Double Down Tour, with back-to-back nights of two unique shows sans-opening act giving fans 6+ hours of his iconic music in each city. The tour recently featured a massive stop at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where he broke the venue’s concert attendance record with more than 56,000 fans just two weeks before awing the same stadium’s audience with a 30-minute, solo acoustic CMA Fest set featuring a medley of 17 hits.

Maren Morris is one of the leading voices in country music today—armed with incredible vocal stylings that reflect her country, folk and pop influences, sheer talent, honest lyrics and a strong presence. Morris’ latest album GIRL, released in March 2019 via Columbia Nashville, was recently named Album of the Year at the 53rd Annual Country Music Association Awards, where Morris was the most nominated artist. The album shattered the record for the largest ever debut streaming week for a country album by a woman with 23.96 million streams and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and No. 4 on the Billboard 200. It features history-making title track “GIRL” which had the highest debut on Billboard’s Country Streaming Songs chart by a female artist and the highest weekly streams by a female country artist ever. GIRL comes three years after Morris’ breakout, Gold-certified debut album Hero and explores how her life has changed since then—a skyrocketing career, falling in love, becoming engaged and then married—and the highs and lows in between. She won a Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance at the 59th Grammy Awards, was named New Artist of the Year at the 50th Annual CMA Awards, Top Country Female Artist at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards and New Female Vocalist of the Year at the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards. Morris was also the most-played female artist on country radio in 2017 and 2018. The 29-year-old from Arlington, Texas got her start playing in bars around her hometown and quickly made a name for herself with Hero and its Platinum-selling “My Church,” Gold-selling “80s Mercedes” and “I Could Use A Love Song.” Hero and its singles topped charts nationwide, set Country radio records, and were some of the most critically-acclaimed works of 2016.

Emotional support or comfort animals are not considered service animals under the ADA and therefore are not allowed at JAS.
Please note that all service dogs, including those from out of state are subject to local dog ordinances, which includes a valid rabies certificate.
1. Service animals must be accompanied by the handler with the disability at all times.
2. Service animals must be under the control and supervision of their handler at all times.
3. Service animals are not permitted to be left in camp unattended under any circumstances.
4. Handlers are required to be prepared for, and clean-up after, their animals at all times.
5. We reserve the right to remove and/or refuse access to any service animal from the campgrounds or venues if that animal is deemed to be a health or safety threat to festival patrons, staff, or other service animals, or in violation of these policies.
6. All service animals must be credentialed by the JAS staff (see the procedures below).
What will you need to do? It’s easy. Once you arrive at JAS, come to the information booth in the front of the accessible parking area. Staff will speak with you, record your contact information, and provide a collar tag for your service animal. Then you are good to go! Security/Staff will be on the lookout this year for all animals to have a properly credentialed JAS collar tag.
Remember, Service animals are allowed, all other dogs are not!
There will be no bottles of water for sale during the 2021 JAS Labor Day Experience. Instead you can buy a reusable, JAS logoed water bottle to use throughout the festival and beyond!
All food at the festival is served on compostable or reusable plates and utensils and a full-scale compost disposable system is in place.
In 2016 we eliminated plastic “stir sticks” from the main field bars, eliminating over 20,000 pieces of plastic from the landfill.
We are excited to bring back reusable cup program. Bring your festival souvenir cup back to the bars for $1 off your next drink.
In 2018 we achieved an 88% diversion rate. Please do your part in 2019 by putting your waste in the correct bin.
