Austin Ford
Austin Ford is a jazz trumpet player and composer who recently graduated from the University of North Texas (UNT) in spring of 2021. During his time at UNT, he was a member of the Grammy nominated One O’Clock Lab Band where he performed alongside musicians such as Gary Smulyan, Regina Carter, and Maria Schneider. Austin has also studied with various trumpet teachers such as Philip Dizack, Tanya Darby, Caleb Hudson, Mike Steinel, and Charlie Porter.
Outside of UNT, Austin recorded an unreleased live album with trumpeter Tom Harrell. Additionally, he has been involved in competitions such as the National Trumpet Competition (NTC) where he was a three-time semifinalist, and the upcoming International Trumpet Guild (ITG) Ryan Anthony Memorial Competition where he is currently a finalist (results TBD).
Austin loves to write music. Some of his biggest current influences are Thundercat, Jacob Mann, Louis Cole, and Domi and JD Beck.
