Emmy-nominated trumpeter and vocalist Benny Benack III (BBIII) has emerged as a leading voice in jazz, headlining clubs and festivals worldwide. His latest live album, This Is The Life, has earned critical acclaim, thousands of streams, and a spot atop the JazzWeek Radio Charts. A rare double-threat, he is both a fiery trumpeter, drawing from Freddie Hubbard to Louis Armstrong, and a vocalist with expressive, post-Sinatra phrasing.
His sophomore album, A Lot of Livin’ to Do (2020), featured Christian McBride and gained viral attention with his vocalese arrangement of “Social Call” with Veronica Swift. He has reached millions more listeners through collaborations with the Grammy-winning 8-Bit Big Band and Postmodern Jukebox. His 2023 release, Third Time’s the Charm, reached No. 2 on the charts and featured artists including Peter Bernstein and Bria Skonberg.
Benack was a finalist in the 2014 Thelonious Monk Competition and earned Third Place in the 2021 Sarah Vaughan Vocal Competition. In 2025, he was named DownBeat’s Rising Star Male Vocalist and ranked among Rising Star Trumpeters.
Through touring, livestream performances, and global collaborations, BBIII continues to build a dynamic and far-reaching career in jazz.
