LISTEN TO DAYRAMIR GONZALEZ
Dayramir González began his professional career as a pianist and composer at age 16 with former Irakere member Oscar Valdés’ Afro-Cuban jazz ensemble, Diákara. He received the highest awards at Havana’s JoJazz Festival in 2004 and 2005, followed by three Cubadisco Awards for his 2007 debut album, Dayramir & Habana enTRANCé. He went on to attend Berklee College of Music as the first Cuban national recipient of the Presidential Scholarship.
Since completing his education, Dayramir has performed in 15,000-seat stadiums alongside legends Chucho and Bebo Valdés and headlined Carnegie Hall as a representative of the younger generation of Afro-Cuban jazz. With multiple albums to his credit, he has developed an international following through performances at clubs, concert halls, and festivals throughout North and South America and Europe.
Now a United States citizen, Dayramir continues to perform annually in Cuba at Havana’s legendary Jazz Plaza Festival, staying close to his cultural and creative roots.
