Randy Brecker is a virtuosic trumpeter, prolific composer, and one of the most influential figures in modern jazz. Over a decades-long career, his horn has been featured alongside legends including Horace Silver, Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Charles Mingus, Clark Terry, Joe Henderson, and the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra. As a first-call studio musician, he has also recorded with artists ranging from James Taylor and Bruce Springsteen to Parliament-Funkadelic, Jaco Pastorius, and Frank Zappa.
A key contributor to jazz-rock fusion, Brecker was a member of Blood, Sweat & Tears and co-founded the group Dreams before forming the groundbreaking Brecker Brothers with his brother Michael. The band became a major force in jazz and popular music, earning multiple Grammy nominations and widespread acclaim.
Following the group’s hiatus, Brecker continued an expansive career as a bandleader and collaborator, including work with Jaco Pastorius and numerous international tours. His recordings have earned multiple Grammy Awards, including Into the Sun and 34th N Lex.
Continuing to perform worldwide, Brecker remains a defining voice in jazz, known for his technical mastery, innovation, and lasting influence on generations of musicians.
