Grand Prize – Sloane Simon, Pittsburgh, PA
Someone Needs to Know – Watch Now
Hi! I am a high school junior from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I began playing guitar and writing songs at nine years old when my mother was diagnosed with cancer, and I have witnessed the power of music as an uplifting force. I am the vocalist and lead guitarist for my high school jazz band. I am an award winning songwriter whose work has been recognized by the National YoungArts Foundation for the years 2021 and 2022 in multiple categories and I was a season 4 contestant on ABC’s American Idol. I perform regularly at breweries, wineries and other venues in my hometown. You can find my social media @OfficiallySloane and stream my music on all platforms under the name Sloane. Thank you to JAS for this incredible honor.
Middle School Winner – Selah Williams, New Castle, CO
Who Am I – Music coming soon
Hi! My name is Selah! I’m 11 years old, and I’ve loved music for as long as l can remember. I am in 6th grade, and I am the sixth of 10 kids. I love volleyball, songwriting, and especially, singing karaoke! My favorite singers currently are Taylor Swift, Jamie Grace, and Ruth B. I hope to keep singing, writing music and performing as I grow up. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to submit my song in this competition. Thank you all for listening!
High School Honorable Mention – Lana Greengrass, Carbondale, CO
Numb – Listen Now
I love music. I love listening and creating. Piano is my first love. I also play guitar and ukulele and hopefully everything else in future. Do not expect any thing from my music, as I will never meet any expectations. Writing “Numb” was a really fun thing to do, I will continue doing fun things as long as I’m expressing my self in my music. Thank you Jazz Aspen for this opportunity!
Middle School Honorable Mention – Adelaide Dorr, Aspen, CO
Happy Ever After – Listen Now
Adelaide Dorr, 11, has been singing since she could talk. She loves musicals and attending concerts with her mom. She is currently learning the ukulele so she can create melodies to go along with songs she has written. She performed a duet in the Aspen School District talent show this year and plans to audition for a role in Theater Aspen’s performance of The Sound of Music.
