Joshua Calef
A Dallas native, Joshua Calef is a hard-swinging drummer rapidly becoming a fixture in the North Texas jazz scene. After formative years in Michigan under the guidance of drummers Sean Dobbins and Pete Siers, Joshua relocated to Chicago. There he studied with George Fludas and performed at clubs such as the Jazz Showcase and Andy’s. Joshua taught students of all ages and developed a therapeutic music program for the elderly entitled “Jammin’ with Josh”. In 2019, Joshua began his Master’s at UNT studying with Quincy Davis, Jose Aponte and Ed Soph. Joshua is a member of the 2021 One O’Clock Lab Band and has performed with Lynn Seaton, Sandra Kaye, Kelly Durbin, Brad Leali, Steve Cardenas, Ben Allison and many others, as well as UNT’s Two O’Clock and Jazz Singers.
