Sam Keedy
Born and raised into a family of classical musicians and educators, trombonist Sam Keedy grew up surrounded by music. After picking up the trombone at age 11 under the guidance of the illustrious trombonist Paul Mckee, Sam moved from his hometown to attend the Denver School of the Arts. While attending high school in Denver, he took part in a number of programs, ensembles, and competitions, including the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts, Essentially Ellington, the Vail Jazz All-Stars, the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, the Telluride All-Stars, and the YoungArts Foundation. Sam Keedy now attends the Frost School of Music under the teachings of Dante Luciani. Throughout his career, he has traveled all over America, Japan, and Canada, performed at venues such as the Tokyo TUC Jazz Club, Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley, Vail and Telluride Jazz festivals, Victoria/Vancouver Jazz Festivals, Monterey Jazz Festival, Alice Tully Hall, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Sam has had the privilege to work with and encounter notable artists such as John and Jeff Clayton, Dave Liebman, Wycliffe Gordon, Elliot Mason, Victor Wooten, Greg Gisbert, Rudy Royston, Lewis Nash, Shane Endsley, Javon Jackson, Allison Miller, Derrick Hodge, Ingrid Jensen, Shane Endsley, Vincent Gardner, and Terrell Stafford. Sam continues to work on his craft as a trombonist, write and compose in a number of orchestrations, as well as lead and gig with his own groups in Colorado and Miami.
