Open to students grades 5-12

Entries must be received by February 1, 2022

Winner will be announced by March 1, 2022

One High School winner will receive a cash prize of $500 plus the opportunity to perform your song live at a JAS Café event.
One Middle School winner will receive a cash prize of $500 and up to four honorable mention winners will receive a cash prize of $100.

Submission Guidelines:

Students are encouraged to submit an original song from any music genre
Submissions shall include: an audio or video recording, a lyric sheet and student submission info to include: Name, Age, Grade, School, Email Address
Students may submit a maximum of two songs each
Plagiarism of copyrighted material is illegal. It is the responsibility of the songwriter to assure that music submitted is not copyrighted

Entries will be judged based on their originality/creativity, aesthetic quality, music and lyrics. All entries will be judged by multiple professional musicians who will provide constructive feedback for every song.

NEW TO SONGWRITING?

JAS will be offering four free live virtual workshops featuring GRAMMY nominated Nashville songwriter, producer and author of The Singer-Songwriter’s Guide to Recordings in the Home Studio, Shane Adams. Shane is a founding instructor at BerkleeOnline and is President of Artist Accelerator, a full-service music production company. He has received the Country Music Hall of Fame’s Top Ten Hitmaker Award for co-developing the Taylor Swift Education Center’s Words & Music program which has taught over 100,000 kids to write and record music.
