It’s been a busy fall at JAS, with schools back in session and music filling the hallways. Much of it new music, from new instruments, many provided by JAS. Since August JAS has donated:
- 30 guitars to Rifle Middle School for a new guitar class
- 7 headphones & 3 keyboards to Glenwood Springs High School
- A tenor drum set & textbooks to the Coal Ridge High School Music Theory class
- A bass drum to Basalt Middle School
- 3 mellophones, 2 baritone saxophones, trumpet & sousophone to a growing Aspen High School music program
That’s over $36,000 in donations in just two months!
Meanwhile, JAS Instructors have been busy assisting in the classrooms with over 150 hours being provided thus far and our biggest month of the year coming up in November, as JAS assists students with all-state and district honor band try outs as well as preparing classes for holiday performances.
JAS will be launching our third annual Songwriting Competition in November, including virtual classes for both beginner and intermediate students. We have been amazed at the talented entries received in the first two years and look forward to hearing more in 2023.
