If you’ve never experienced the JAS June Experience, allow us to give you a little tour of what you could be missing out on! With three nights of music taking place all across the Downtown Aspen core, you have the flexibility of creating your own schedule, taking in music from a variety of genres, and creating your perfect night on the town. Thursday – June 22
2pm-9pm – At any point during the day swing by D’Angelico Guitars where the JAS Box Office will be set-up to grab the wristband which will allow you entrance info all participating general admission venues. Be sure to grab your Official Experience program while you are there! Even better, download our app now for info on all bands, venues and nightly updates of what venue capacities look like.
5:30pm – Get an early start on the evening with Tony Monaco’s smoking Hammond B-3 Organ Trio at Bon Bon (located in the Aspen Residences)
6:30pm – You’ll have two chances to take in blues guitarist/vocalist Kevin Burt at Bad Harriet by the Hotel Jerome, with performances starting at 6:30 or 8pm.
8:30pm – Keep that New Orleans vibe going with Galactic featuring Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph at the Belly Up
10pm – Before you head home, take a stroll over to The Sterling and get ready to dance with New Orleans trombonist and vocalist, Big Sam’s Funky Nation.
Friday, June 23
5:15pm – Get the party started at Here House/Local Coffee with Chinobay Afro-Jazz Fusion
6:30pm – Stroll over to the Aspen Art Museum for psychedelic soul band Monophonics! While you are there be sure to grab a delicious snack from the Rooftop Cafe.
8pm – Next up, head over to the Hotel Jerome, where you’ll have a choice of three different artists in three different spaces: Jazz bassist/vocalist Katie Thiroux and her Trio at Felix Coffee (8pm) jazz/pop vocal duo Tuck & Patti at the Wheeler Room (8:30pm) and Blues guitarist/vocalist Kevin Burt at Bad Harriet (9:15pm). Make sure you grab one of Bad Harriet’s signature cocktails while you are there!
8:45pm – If you prefer one longer set to three smaller ones, your next stop should be the Wheeler Opera House for the Grammy award winning Brazilian jazz pianist/vocalist Eliane Elias.
10pm – It’s not time to stop yet? End your evening at Belly Up with veteran blues artists Ruthie Foster. Look out for our friends at White Claw there, they’ll be sampling some tasty new beverages.
Saturday, June 22
5:45pm – Hopefully you got the two-day pass and are ready for one more stroll through the neighborhood, starting with Grammy award winning, longtime former backup singer for the Rolling Stones, Ms. Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton at the Wheeler Opera House.
7pm – As Lisa wraps up grab a drink at the Wheeler Lobby Bar and enjoy violin/vocal and guitar duo Lucia Micarelli & Leo Amuedo, or if you’re hungry, head over to 39 Degrees at the W Hotel and grab a bite at the bar while taking in the gritty blues, funk and soul of Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears.
From the W, take the two block stroll to the Aspen Art Museum to check out the Grammy-nominated Mardi Gras Indian Funk Band Cha Wa (9pm), or if you’re feeling jazzy, head to the Limelight Hotel for the Jeff Hamilton Trio with Tamir Hendelman and Jon Hamar. Did we mention that Don Julio will be there doing tastings?
10pm – You know you’re not ready to go home yet! Not until you swing into Belly Up for The Greyboy Allstars with Karl Denson. The perfect party to end your night.
Sunday, June 23
What better way to relax after the late nights than an early brunch! Tickets are still available for the 10am New Orleans Brunch located at the Durant Street VIP Tent and featuring a delicious meal by European Caterers, bottomless mimosas, Woody Creek Distillers Bloody Mary bar, and music from 40-year old New Orleans own Rebirth Brass Band.
