Jesse Katz

Jesse Katz is an in-demand freelance bassist, composer, and educator based in Miami, Florida. After playing a few different instruments from a young age, Jesse found his love for the bass and came up through his high school’s band and orchestra programs in Williamsburg, Virginia.

In 2017, Jesse moved to Miami to pursue a degree in Jazz Bass Performance from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. In his time performing as a member of many of the flagship ensembles at Frost, he has been fortunate enough to share the stage with jazz luminaries such as David Liebman, Maria Schneider, Brian Lynch, and Wycliffe Gordon. Jesse is also a recipient of the University’s prestigious Issac Bashevis Singer Scholarship for Academic Achievement.

Now a recent graduate, Jesse maintains an active performance schedule as both a sideman and bandleader amongst South Florida’s finest musicians. Recently, Jesse appeared with his trio WDNA Jazz Radio in Miami, performing his own original compositions. He has also appeared at the Next Generation Jazz Festival and as a headlining act at the St. Petersburg Jazz Festival.
